Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains how OpenRaid collects, uses, and shares the personal information you give us when you use openraid.gg, our raid-matching platform, and any related apps or services we run that link to this policy. When you use our service, you're agreeing to how we handle your information as described here. You can withdraw your consent by letting us know in advance, though that might mean we can't fully support you anymore. If you don't want to accept this policy, just stop using the site and our services. You also have the right to see what personal information we have about you and ask us to fix it, which we explain in section 11.
1. What Personal Information Is Collected from You
Personal information is anything that identifies you or could identify you when combined with other details. Think real names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, that kind of thing. We only collect what we actually need to do what we do, for specific reasons. We try our best to keep your information accurate, complete, and up to date. But honestly, it's on you to update it if something changes, like your contact info. What we need depends on what you're doing with the service, and here's the breakdown. When you give us information directly Registration and profiles. Sign up through Steam, Battle.net, or similar platforms and we pull in your username, platform ID, and whatever else you've added to your profile like a bio or avatar. Messages and interactions. We collect what you share when you're searching for raid groups, joining teams, or just using the service. We also keep records of anything you tell our support team, including your name and email.
2. What Information Is Collected Automatically Upon Using Our Service
Stuff gets collected automatically when you're on our service, without you having to do anything. Device information. Your IP address, browser type, mobile OS version if you're on a phone, and unique device identifiers come through automatically. We also grab your browser settings and preferences. Usage data. Every time you interact with us or the service, we're collecting that. Group searches, raid formations, who showed up when, all of it gets logged so we can actually run the platform. If something breaks, we might also get technical details from your device. Cookies and Google Analytics. Like most sites, we use cookies and Google Analytics to see how people move around the website. Cookies are just tiny files that sit on your device. Want to read more about how that works? Check out https://policies.google.com/technologies/cookies, www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners, and https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245. You can also grab the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on if you'd rather not be tracked that way.
3. How We Use Your Information
Keeping the service running We use what we collect to actually provide the service, follow the law, and do anything else you've asked us to do or that you've agreed to. Internal stuff We dig into the data for our own analytics and market research to help us build a better platform. When you're using the service to find raids, we use your username and profile info to show your reliability to others and make better matches. Staying in touch We send emails to verify your account, tell you about updates, handle customer service requests, and respond when you reach out with questions or issues. Our newsletter If you sign up, we'll email you newsletters and marketing stuff. Want to stop getting them? Just hit unsubscribe on any email we send. Legal and security stuff We might process your information to enforce our rights, catch hackers or security problems, follow laws and regulations, respond to official requests, and keep things in line with industry standards and our own policies. Anonymous data We can strip out identifying details and use the data in aggregate form for other purposes.
4. How We May Disclose Your Information
We don't sell, rent, or give your information to anyone else unless the law requires it, we have your permission, or it's listed below. Companies we work with We might share your info with third parties who help us run the service, follow the law, or do other things mentioned in this policy. Here's what that looks like in practice: Data storage happens on Amazon Web Services (DynamoDB and S3) in the US. Newsletter subscribers get their name and email shared with Mailchimp for sending only. Their privacy policy is at https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/. Payment processing goes through third-party services because we don't handle card information directly. Job applications end up in our applicant tracking system. Other people using the service If you're using it to find raid groups, other users can see your username, bio, avatar, and your raid history. Third-party apps We might let you share stuff with other apps or services. We're not responsible for how they use it, so check their privacy policies yourself. When the law says we have to We'll share information if a court order, subpoena, or legal requirement forces us to, or if we need to protect someone from harm or investigate something illegal. Mergers and acquisitions If we're involved in a business deal like a merger or acquisition, your information might be shared with the other parties as part of that process, following the law. De-identified data We can also share reports with anonymous, aggregated data about user types and traffic patterns.
5. Information from Children Under 14
We don't collect information from kids under 14 without a parent or guardian saying it's okay. If you're under 14 and want to use the service, your parent or legal guardian needs to agree to the terms and this policy. Think we collected something from a kid under 14 without permission? Email support@openraid.gg and we'll delete it as fast as we can.
6. How Long Is Your Information Kept?
We hold onto your information as long as it makes sense for why we collected it in the first place and for customer service, business, and legal reasons. Unless the law says we need to keep it longer.
7. How Do We Protect Your Personal Information?
We take security seriously and follow standard gaming industry practices to protect your information from being lost, stolen, or misused, whether it's being sent over the internet or stored on our servers. That said, nothing online is completely secure. We can't guarantee your data will stay private or safe forever, but we do our best. If we discover a serious data breach that might affect you, we'll let you know following the law.
8. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Your information might get transferred to servers in other countries like Canada or the US. When it does, we protect it the same way this policy describes and how the law requires.
9. Changes to Our Privacy Policy and Practices
We might update this policy as our practices or the laws change. We'll post the new version on the website and let you know when it was updated. Big changes will get communicated to you through email or other ways we can reach you.
10. Governing Law
This policy is governed by Canadian law and the laws of Quebec specifically. Any privacy disputes will be handled in the courts of Montreal.
11. How Can You Access and Rectify Your Personal Information?
Subject to what the law allows, you can ask to see what personal information we have about you and request corrections by writing to us at the address at the end of this policy. We'll try to respond to written requests within roughly 30 days. We'll give you access to or a copy of your information following what the law says. Sometimes there might be a fee. We might verify who you are before giving you access. Any info you give us for that purpose won't be saved or used for anything else.
